Abstract

The article presents the advantages of cefixime as an oral the third generation cephalosporin. The drug is mainly used in the treatment of infections with Gram bacteria (-) and sensitive Gram(+) strains. It remains particularly useful in respiratory and urinary tract infections, and is able to replace primary intravenous antibiotic therapy as an oral drug. It is used from 6 months of age usually once a day.
