Abstract

Heart failure is a complex clinical syndrome that accompanies impaired myocardial function. The paper presents the current principles of diagnosis and therapy of heart failure, important from the point of view of primary care physicians. The role of eplerenone – a selective mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist – is discussed in more detail.
