Can you always split tablets? Review article

Abstract

Patients often split their tablets for certain reasons. Primarily to make the intake easier. They also do so for economical reasons and to make pill doses smaller. We have to remember, that splitting tablets might interfere their structure and pharmacokinetic properties, which in consequence can lead to the lack of gaining the intended therapeutical effect. Tablets can be split only if there is an information in Summary of Product Characteristic.
