Spasticity is a complex movement disorder that often disturbs the functioning of people suffering from multiple sclerosis. It is characterized by high variability of severity and location of symptoms. The article discusses the incidence of spasticity in the course of multiple sclerosis and presents available treatment methods individually adapted to the current clinical status of the patient. This comprehensive treatment include: the elimination of factors causing and exacerbating symptoms of increased muscle tone, pharmacotherapy and non-pharmacological management.
