Abstract

The strategy of fighting influenza is based on infection prevention based on the vaccination program on the one hand, and on early diagnosis of infection and implementation of therapy on the other. A third option that is gaining in importance is the prophylactic inclusion of oseltamivir after contact with an infected patient. Due to the lower effectiveness of vaccinations, the use of oseltamivir is particularly important in infants and young children.
