Abstrakt
Nadciśnienie tętnicze jest złożoną chorobą, w leczeniu której właściwy wybór leków hipotensyjnych wymaga uwzględnienia wielu czynników. Wśród nich wymienia się przede wszystkim współistnienie innych chorób przewlekłych oraz subklinicznych uszkodzeń narządowych. Dla skuteczności terapii znaczenie ma również zapewnienie właściwego compliance, czego istotnym warunkiem jest prosty schemat przyjmowania leków. U wielu pacjentów trafnym wyborem może być zastosowanie walsartanu i hydrochlorotiazydu. Autorzy artykułu omawiają podstawowe badania kliniczne, których wyniki przyczyniły się do osiągnięcia przez oba leki dzisiejszej pozycji w terapii nadciśnienia tętniczego.
