Abstract

The effectiveness and side effects of etoricoxib are discussed in this paper. Etoricoxib is a strong nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug used in diseases of the musculoskeletal system. The effectiveness of the drug is comparable to that of diclofenac. Treatment tolerance is good. It causes fewer gastrointestinal and hepatic side effects than diclofenac, and patients discontinue the drug less frequently. Cardiovascular complications occur with a similar frequency as with diclofenac. Etoricoxib is more likely to increase blood pressure.
