Abstract

The group of patients with chronic heart failure has still been growing. Thus, this disease is a challenge not only in clinical, but also in social and economic terms. Available treatment strategies, including pharmacotherapy and electrotherapy, are aimed at slowing complications and adverse course of the disease. It was observed recently that there is significant reduction in mortality due to sudden cardiac death. However, there is still a need for prevention of deaths due to pump failure. Ivabradine is a one of the newest treatment option which is tested and included in current guidelines.
