The application of sulodexide in prolonged DVT prophylaxis after orthopaedic surgeries Case report series

Abstract
At the orthopaedics and trauma department in Poland the DVD prophylaxis is obligatory. This prophylaxis depends on type of orthopaedic surgery as well as patient’s risk factors. Based on this surgeon qualifies both the operation itself and the patient to the appropriate risk groups recommending optimal individual DVT therapy. A significant number of patients following orthopedic surgery report to the problem of persistent edema, which can complicate the lives of patients, making it difficult to return to physical fitness.
After orthopedic surgery appear so two problems – the risk of thrombosis and postoperative swelling. In the situations, with the lack of DVT symptoms the anti-edema treatment should be indicated. This paper presents the use of sulodexide in some cases orthopedic cases.
Continuing DVT prevention with sulodexide, giving further action in patients after orthopedic procedures, can improve the general condition of the limbs, improve overall efficiency and to facilitate the rehabilitation and daily activities of patients after injuries and orthopedic procedures in the area of the lower limb.
