Abstract
According to the current guidelines of the Polish Society of Hypertension hypotensive therapy is based on blocking the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system with sartans or angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors. To renin–angiotensin–aldosterone blockers we add calcium channel blocker or a thiazide diuretic. Such therapy enables blood pressure control to be achieved in approximately 60% of patients. The following article will discuss the combination based on telmisartan, a drug with a very long duration of action, a very favorable metabolic profile and high tolerance.
