Abstract
Metronidazole is a chemotherapeutic agent with a broad spectrum of activity, not only antibacterial, but also antiprotozoal, usually in the I-line treatment of H. pylori, SIBO and diverticulitis. It has an atypical mechanism of action, which affects its effectiveness. Despite potential drug interactions and side effects, it is viewed as relatively safe and effective.
