Abstrakt
Aktualne wytyczne Polskiego Towarzystwa Nadciśnienia Tętniczego dotyczące postępowania z pacjentami z nadciśnieniem tętniczym wskazują 5 podstawowych grup leków stosowanych w terapii tego schorzenia: inhibitory enzymu konwertującego angiotensynę, antagonistów kanałów wapniowych, antagonistów receptorów dla angiotensyny II, diuretyki i β-adrenolityki. Każda z tych grup reprezentowana jest przez ciekawe substancje, które pomimo tego samego mechanizmu działania cechują się pewnymi dodatkowymi właściwościami. Kandesartan, przedstawiciel grupy antagonistów receptorów dla angiotensyny II, ma udowodniony wpływ na redukcję chorobowości i śmiertelności u pacjentów z niewydolnością serca, skutecznie obniża ciśnienie tętnicze, redukuje ryzyko udaru mózgu u pacjentów z izolowanym skurczowym nadciśnieniem tętniczym, prawdopodobnie też zmniejsza ryzyko rozwoju cukrzycy. Jednocześnie jest lekiem bardzo dobrze tolerowanym. Kandesartan ze swoją skutecznością i dobrą tolerancją leczenia stanowi dobrą alternatywę w terapii szerokiej rzeszy chorych z nadciśnieniem tętniczym.
