Abstract

Multiple sclerosis is a disease which affects young people who are entering adult life, starting a family and achieving professional success. Physicians find it difficult to communicate information regarding this diagnosis. Many of them avoid or delay the subject of the imperfect reimbursement system in Poland. This article presents the results of a questionnaire conducted on a medical social portal TacyJakJa.pl with patients suffering from multiple sclerosis. As many as 71% of the interviewed patients said that the physician should inform them about the rules which determine being qualified for the reimbursed treatment program, even if a given person does not qualify. However, only 45% of them received any information at all from their physician. Physicians should pay attention to the patients’ growing expectations and treat them as partners in the course of the treatment.
