Abstract

The principle therapeutics in osteoarthritis treatment are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The guidelines do not indicate any preparation as the preferred in initiation of the treatment. The anti-inflammatory drug should be selected individually, depending on the patient’s age, comorbidities and contraindications to the use of particular drug. In patients with cardiac risk factors, it is necessary to ensure cardiovascular safety by appropriate selection of an anti-inflammatory drug and/or modification of cardiac pharmacotherapy.
