Early diagnosis of back pain. What to do to not to overlook AS? Case report
Main Article Content
Abstract
Chronic back pain, especially low back pain, is one of the most common reasons for all medical consultations. Non-specific back pain is usually caused by osteoarthritis and overloading changes of the spine. Other, less common causes of back pain include inflammatory diseases of the spine and sacroiliac joints – spondyloarthropathies (SpA), including ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Early diagnosis of AS (SpA) is essential for stopping the progression of the disease, improving the quality of life and prognosis. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) play a most important role in the pharmacotherapy of both non-specific back pain and AS.
