Abstract

Chronic kidney disease patients are highly prone to cardiovascular disease. Lipid balance disturbances are one of the most common causes of cardiovascular complications and the clinical studies with statins have produced mixed results in this group of patients. In article, we present the preliminary results of two randomized multinational PLANET trials tested the effects of atorvastatin 80 mg/day or rosuvastatin 10 or 40 mg/day on urinary protein excretion and renal function in hypercholesterolemic patients with moderate proteinuria.
