Abstract
In 2012 European Society of Cardiology has announced a total of six new guidelines, updates or definitions. The article is a summary of the nature of the recommendations in the context of the state of the art, classes of recommendations and levels of evidence and cites examples of new recommendations in four papers published during this year’s ESC Congress.
