Abstract

Diclofenac is the most used nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug worldwide. The review of the published data shows, that it is still the reference drug in the pharmacological treatment of osteoarthritis. The strength of its action is comparable to the selective COX2 inhibitors and other alternative anti-inflammatory drugs. It has a strong position in the treatment of osteoarthritis and arthritis. The precaution is required when it is used in the patients with risk factors for gastrointestinal and circulatory diseases.
