Abstract

In the pharmacological management of acute and chronic pain among the most commonly used drugs are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Among NSAIDs one of the most frequently used drugs is nimesulide, which in addition to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis has a number of additional actions which exacerbate the effect of analgesic and anti- -inflammatory drug. An additional advantages are its higher gastrointestinal safety and lower potential for interaction with other concomitantly administered drugs, and in particular antiplatelet drugs.
