Abstract

Treatment of acute sinusitis, confirmed by an X-ray examination, should combine elements of surgical and pharmacological treatment. In specific situations where such combination is impossible or the patient does not agree to surgical therapy (maxillary sinus puncture), the doctor must implement maximally effective pharmacological treatment. In our case, it was the choice of antibiotics from the macrolide group – clarithromycin – based on the subjective and objective examination. The use of the wide spectrum of antibiotic activities and several additional properties of the drug are equally significant.
