Abstract

Orthopaedic treatment is specifically exposed to multiple complications, such as venous thromboembolism (VTE). Patients undergoing surgical treatment in orthopaedic departments require complex therapeutic and preventive measures in order to diminish the risk of both deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).

Multiple measures undertaken in order to reduce the usage of heparin particles, adhering to a simple scheme, should consider accommodating prolonged prophylaxis in order to reduce blood clotting. Presented patients underwent treatment with a use of sulodexide in a form of an antioedematous preventive treatment or prolonged VTE protective treatment.
