Abstract

Serotonin reuptake inhibitors and noradrenaline (SNRI, serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors) are important and frequently used class of drugs for the treatment of depression in patients with inhibition, with concomitant anxiety, with somatic symptoms and with pain. So far in clinical practice most widely used representative of this class of antidepressant was venlafaxine; milnacipran was withdrawn from the Polish and is not currently available for sale and the price of the original preparation of duloxetine limited the possibility of widespread use of this medicine in clinical practice. The introduction of generic product duloxetine created a viable alternative to venlafaxine treatment in situations when there are problems with venlafaxine tolerance or when clinically we want rapid simultaneous blockade of reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin. The paper presents five clinical cases duloxetine therapy.
