Abstract

Acetaminophen and ibuprofen are often used in treating fever in children. Their mechanisms of action are different: ibuprofen is a non-selective COX inhibitor, while acetaminophen probably works by inhibiting COX, but it also affects the descending core serotonergic pathways. Both drugs can be used simultaneously: or in the combined preparation or alternately. The effectiveness of both regimens was tested by Paul and Walson. This paper discusses the results of their meta-analysis.
