Abstract

The idea of pharmacotherapy in the treatment of locomotor system pain is to inhibit local inflammatory processes in the muscles, ligaments and fascia. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are one of the well-known groups of anti-inflammatory medications. Diclofenac is the most commonly used compound in this group. The most common is the oral dosage form. Other forms of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs administration include parenteral (intravenous and intramuscular) and topical application. Diclofenac can be administered by iontophoresis in physical therapy. Iontophoresis (or ionophoresis) is a procedure involving the insertion of dissociated drugs into tissues by electric field forces. This process occurs due to the spontaneous dissolution of electrolyte particles into ions in water.
