Abstract

Amlodipine is one of the longest-used and best-tested antihypertensive drugs. It is widely used both as monotherapy, as well as a basis for drug combinations in single-pill combinations. Despite the long clinical experience with amlodipine, new research shows additional benefits of the drug in a variety of patients including patients with chronic diseases, elderly patients, with kidney disease, pregnant women or those exposed to COVID-19 infection. This paper summarizes the news on the use of amlodipine available at the beginning of 2020.
