Abstrakt
Okskarbazepina działa za pośrednictwem blokowania zależnych od napięcia kanałów sodowych i wapniowych. Taki sam mechanizm mają inne leki przeciwpadaczkowe skuteczne w chorobie afektywnej dwubiegunowej. Z tego powodu towarzystwa naukowe wskazują okskarbazepinę jako alternatywę dla litu lub walproinianów (APA 2002) i zalecają ją zamiast karbamazepiny (algorytm teksański z 2000 r.). Stosowane w randomizowanych badaniach dawki dobowe (do 2400 mg) były skuteczne i w większości przypadków dobrze tolerowane.
