Erytropoetyna i receptor erytropoetynowy a lekooporność i progresja choroby nowotworowej Artykuł przeglądowy

Abstrakt
Badania przedkliniczne przeprowadzone przez ostatnie 10 lat wykazały, że erytropoetyna (EPO) jest nie tylko hormonem regulującym erytropoezę, głównym czynnikiem wzrostu erytrocytów, lecz także cytokiną o plejotropowym działaniu, któremu podlegają również komórki nowotworowe. Ekspresja EPO i jej receptora (EPOR) zachodzi w bardzo wielu nowotworach różnego pochodzenia. Układ EPO/ EPOR jest aktywny w komórkach nowotworowych i bierze udział w modyfikacji molekularnych szlaków sygnałowych oraz stymulacji ich wzrostu, przeżycia, ruchliwości i zdolności do tworzenia przerzutów. EPO może także zwiększać oporność komórek rakowych in vitro i in vivo na działanie chemioterapii i radioterapii.
