Abstrakt
Ezetymib posiada odmienny od statyn mechanizm działania hipolipemizującego, nie wchodzi w interakcje z substancjami metabolizowanymi przez cytochrom P450, zwiększa siłę działania hipolipemizującego każdej dowolnej statyny i poprawia rokowanie sercowo-naczyniowe. Jest stosowany jako lek drugiego rzutu w połączeniu ze statynami, kiedy cel terapeutyczny nie został osiągnięty pomimo podawania maksymalnej tolerowanej dawki statyny lub u pacjentów nietolerujących statyn bądź z przeciwwskazaniami do ich stosowania.
