Abstract

The aim of this study is to present the influence of lymphatic tissue hypertrophy in Waldeyer’s ring on pathologies in facial skeleton development and on malocclusions’ prevalence – review of the literature. Numerous studies show the etiology of malocclusions and maxillary deformities in children with pathological adenoid hypertrophy and additional obstruction of upper airways. On the other hand, there are contradictory opinions in the literature on how the hypertrophy of palatine tonsils influences the orthodontic problems.
