Abstract

Bronchial hyperreactivity is inseparable, but non-specific feature of asthma. Bronchial challenge tests are used to evidence of bronchial hyperactivity (BHR). A multiple types of these tests were described so far. Methacholine challenge and excercise tests were recognised by ATS, GINA and BTS as standard tools to detecting the BHR. The specialist devices necessary are to their performance. Recently, bronchial challenge test with dry powder of mannitol is promoted. Published papers show the large agreement of results in comparison with the methacholine challenge test. Commercial sets prepared to the test from mannitol allow to conduct it in the every centre making correctly pulmonary function test. Unfortunately, they as yet not are accessible on the market in Poland.
