Characteristics of pollen seasons of hazel, alder and birch in Zielona Gora in 2014
Main Article Content
Abstract
The course of hazel, alder and birch pollen seasons in Zielona Gora in year 2014 is presented. Measurements were performed by the volumetric method (Lanzoni 2000 pollen sampler). Pollen season was defined as the period in which 98% of the annual total catch occurred. The presence of hazel pollen was noted in Zielona Gora in the first decade of January, with the pollen count reaching 16 grains/m3. Due to considerably cooler weather the pollination of trees has been stopped for nearly two weeks. The peak of hazel pollen season was recorded in the second decade of February. The peak of alder pollen season in 2014 was recorded in the third decade of February and first decade of March. The presence of birch pollen was noted in Zielona Gora in the first decade of April, with the pollen count reaching 2000 grains/m3. The highest daily birch pollen concentration amounting to 2132 birch grains per m3 of air was found April 3. Seasonal Pollen Index of birch reached 18 393.
