Abstract

The paper presents the course of alder pollination season in Bydgoszcz, Drawsko Pomorskie, Lublin, Piotrkow Trybunalski, Sosnowiec, Szczecin, Warsaw and Wroclaw in 2013. The research was conducted by means of the volumetric method using a Burkard- and Lanzoni-type spore traps. The start and end of pollen seasons was determined by means of the 1% and 95% method. The presence of alder pollen was noted in Poland in the first decade of March, with the pollen count reaching 100–200 grains/m3. Due to considerably cooler weather in the second decade of March, the pollination of trees has been stopped for nearly four weeks. The peak of alder pollen season was recorded in all monitoring sites in the second decade of April. The highest daily concentration amounting to 1145 grains per m2 was found April 14. Seasonal pollen index (SPI) was estimated as annual sum of daily average pollen concentration are the highest in Bydgoszcz (6007), Drawsko Pomorskie (5165) and Wroclaw (4873).
