Quality of life among children with allergies
Main Article Content
Abstract
Allergic diseases are becoming more and more serious health and social problem in Poland, where about 30% of the children suffers from allergy problems. Quality of life in children with asthma can be significantly reduced by the characteristic symptoms, such as wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath and tightness in the chest. These symptoms have a significant impact on reducing children’s physical activity, increased absenteeism in school, emotional state, and less academic performance. Due to the alarming number of international reports which relate to the negative impact on the quality of allergic disease of children, it is important to carry out research on the subject in Poland. What’s more, in Poland determinants of quality of life in children with allergies are not sufficiently explored. It is a problem of extremely priority for public health because of the small scale scientific reports in this area.
