Internet in collecting the information on drug’s side effects

Abstract

The use of antihistamines has until recently been associated with a number of undesirable side effects the most troublesome of which is sedation. Behavioral changes can be produced by any drug that enters the central nervous system. Changes in psychological performance may affect the safety of both the individuals taking the drug and of those coming into contact with them. Although the second generation of antihistamines has a favorable therapeutic index, only a very limited number of antihistamines can claim to be virtually free of sedative effects. In order to achieve the quick and simple assessment of the frequency of sedation in patients taking the second generation of antihistamines the author has tried to use an internet questionnaire as a tool.
