Abstract

This paper presents the course of oak pollen seasons in 2009 and 2010 in Szczecin with reference to meteorological variables. Measurements were performed by the volumetric method (Lanzoni pollen sampler). Pollen season was defined as the period in which 98% of the annual total catch occurred. The differences of pollen seasons duration ware insignificant. In 2009 the pollen season of hazel started 9 days earlier than in 2010. The highest, record airborne concentration (99 p/m3) was recorded in 2009. The pollen concentration distributions during pollen seasons are strongly skewed to the right. In Szczecin statistically significant correlation was found between the pollen count of Quercus versus the rainfall, relative humidity and maximum temperature. The period with pollen count over an allergenic significantly value lasted only 1–3 days.
