Abstract

This paper presents the course of plane tree pollen seasons in 2009 and 2010 in Szczecin with reference to meteorological variables. Measurements were performed by the volumetric method (Lanzoni pollen sampler). Pollen season was defined as the period in which 98% of the annual total catch occurred. The highest, record airborne concentration (77 p/m3) was recorded in 2009 on the 4ht of May. The pollen concentration distributions during pollen seasons are weakly skewed to the right. In Szczecin statistically significant correlation was found between the pollen count of Platanus and the rainfall, relative humidity, maximum temperature and wind velocity. The period with pollen count over an allergenic significantly value lasted only 1–3 days.
