Main Article Content
Abstract
The paper presents the course of birch pollination season in Warsaw in 2010. The research was conducted by means of the volumetric method using a Lanzoni-type spore trap. The start and end of pollen seasons was determined by means of the 95% method. Pollen season of birch in 2010 started on April 12. The highest daily concentration amounting to 2890 grains per m3 was found April 19. Seasonal pollen index (SPI) was estimated (16 148) as annual sum of daily average pollen concentration. Much higher than in previous years, the maximum concentration of birch pollen resulted in 2010 in Warsaw was a higher risk of birch pollen allergens.
