Abstract

Nasal discharge (runny nose), impaired nasal passage and sneezing are symptoms characterizing inflammation of the nasal mucosa. The article presents the characteristics of two disease entities for which the above symptoms are common: allergic rhinitis and common cold.


Special attention is paid to features that allow for differential diagnosis. Current recommendations for the diagnostic and therapeutic management of these two diseases are discussed.
