Abstract

The depersonalization-derealization syndrom is one of the disorders related to a patient’s attention which is narrowly focused on one’s experience and perceptions. The cognitive-behavioral concept of the depersonalization-derealization syndrom implies reducing anxious vigilance and catastrophic attributions as important goals of therapy. This article presents the case of a 26-year-old man, in whom short cognitive-behavioral intervention proved to be effective in the reduction of symptoms. It raises some questions about contemporary understanding of depersonalization- -derealization, and its neuropsychology.
