Abstract

Anxiety disorders are among the most common reasons of visits to GPs and also the second most frequent to psychiatric outpatient clinics (just right after unipolar affective disorder).

The fast development of the civilization, focusing on consumer goods and disintegrating family relationships influence excessively the emotional stability and cause many psychiatric disorders which are said to become the plague of the 21st century. On average, every fourth inhabitant of our planet is suffering or will suffer from any of the range of mental disorders.

In our article we describe a case of the 46-year old male who suffered from anxiety what was the first symptom of the severe endocrinological disorders which undiagnosed and untreated led to life-threatening ischemic stroke and permanent disability.
