Role of hypertriglycerydemia in cardiovascular diseases – an update Review article
Main Article Content
Abstract
In the recent years increased serum triglyceride level accompanying obesity and the states of insulin resistance is observed. Independent relationship of high triglycerides with cardiovascular risk is still controversial but elevated triglyceride-rich lipoproteins level has been considered as atherogenic factor, which correlates with the incidence of cardiovascular events. Triglycerides <150 mg/dl is an important parameter of „cardiometabolic health”. However, clinical trials with lipid-lowering therapy haven’t shown yet clearly that the reduction in triglycerides reduced the cardiovascular risk. The full explanation of this problem requires big, well-designed clinical trials performed in the nearest future.
