Abstract

Syncopes are a common cause of concern among patients, often leading them to report to emergency rooms. This article aims to summarize the European Society’s of Cardiology 2018 guidelines, and broaden doctors’ knowledge of diagnostics and procedures for syncope patients. The guidelines aim to create practical, unified procedures for such cases, based on an interdisciplinary, patient-focused approach. This article devotes special attention to changes in ESC’s guidance, compared to the previous recommendations from 2009. The new guidelines provide medical staff with precise, clinical knowledge which is essential to the diagnostic and treatment processes. Implementing these recommendations should lead to decreased risk of recurring syncopes or potential life-threatening consequences.
