Discussion of the issue of infective endocarditis as a complication of odontogenic infection in a patient with implanted cardioverter-defibrillator – an educational case based on the guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology Case report
Main Article Content
Abstract
In patients with infective endocarditis qualified for treatment with an implantable electrotherapy device, ESC recommends regular orthodontic prophylaxis and oral hygiene due to the high risk of infection associated with dental diseases. The paper presents the case of a patient in whom neglect of oral hygiene led to the necessity to remove a previously implanted cardioverter-defibrillator and reoperation.
